之前有抓過Safari 3.2.2下來用過
感覺雖然軟體容量小
但是吃記憶體的能力不輸IE & Chrome
有些網頁的連結太多他就死在那邊
沒有一天我就砍掉囉!

各家瀏覽器的戰爭都是抄襲
大家都只有在效能上比較
其實只有使用者才知道哪一種瀏覽器自己合用

我最近使用Chome貼圖發現他貼圖有變聰明囉
直接開貼圖網頁貼過去就好
不過圖片要是較大會有點變慢....
甚至會整個當機跳出去 @@?

這時候就要變成~
貼圖網由FeedDemon 開,複製內容貼到Chome去
這樣我又省了又要經過奇摩部落格轉語法囉
嘿嘿! 這點又比日系瀏覽器Lunascape5 強得多


話說這次Safari 看到 Chome的效能可能會眼紅
應該也會抄襲一些Chome的部分吧
仿間都是這麼說......

先前蘋果電腦都用MAC自家開發的處理器
現在不也打破豬腦用了INTEL的處理器了嗎?

證實市場銷售能力是很殘酷的~
有量比質感重要....
就跟零件大量採用舊名聲高成本慢慢降低

反之...如果你出一個處理器沒人用
要賣出去也很有限吧!

The beta version of Safari 4 is now available for download. I’m actually using it as I write this post, and while it is quite stable and fast, it’s not going to replace Firefox as my default browser anytime soon. I’ll tell you why later, but if you’re a Firefox user you probably know my reasons. For now let’s take a brief look at the features that Apple are flaunting.

First off is Top Sites, a modified version of Opera’s Speed Dial. Like Speed Dial, Top Sites displays links in the form of previews of websites arranged in a grid; up to 24 previews can be displayed. Top Sites’ advantage over Speed Dial is that it tells you if any of the previewed websites have been updated by displaying a blue star on the upper right corner of the websites’ preview.

You can also “pin” a website to it’s current position so you’ll always know where to look for it. As cool as it looks, for me Top Sites needs to be tweaked: you can remove websites from the grid at anytime, but for some reason you can’t manually add websites like in Speed Dial.

Top Sites has to “learn” which websites you frequently visit. Bookmarks are enough for me, but since my 6-year old niece also uses my Mac to surf the net, it would have been nice if I could just click on existing previews and replace them by typing in the URL of the websites that she likes so she doesn’t have to do the typing.

Safari did not escape Apple’s Cover Flow mania, although this time it’s actually quite useful because it’s used to scan not only through your bookmarks but through your browsing history as well. It’s a great way to look up the tab of any obscure blog or website that you accidentally closed, and you can look at a page without having to load it again.

Safari 4’s Full History Search can even recognize captions, so for instance if you’re looking for a certain picture but you don’t want to flip through hundreds of previews, you can type in the picture’s caption and Safari will look for the page for you.

The next feature is immediately noticeable as soon as you open a new tab: Chrome’s tab-on-top look has rubbed off on Safari. You can snicker all you want, but the set-up really makes sense and makes you wonder why the developers of Firefox didn’t think of it before anyone else.

As you can see, having the tabs on top of the browser is less distracting, and it also frees up a significant amount of viewing space. Hackintosh Netbook owners will certainly thank Apple for that extra space. But like Top Sites, in my opinion this new (for Safari) feature still needs to improved.

You see, by moving the tabs to the top of the window, they also become the area that you drag to move the entire window. This quickly becomes annoying because whereas in Firefox you can click anywhere on a tab to drag and drop it to a new location, in Safari you have to click at the tab’s “handle” - the tiny triangle on the right side edge of a tab - before you can drag and drop the tab. If you click anywhere else you’ll just end up moving the whole window, which is what happens when you click the “forehead” of any window, whether in OS X or in Windows.

Speaking of Windows, Safari now sports native interfaces on its Vista and XP versions.

Finally, Safari 4 uses a new browser engine that Apple has dubbed “Nitro”. Here’s what Apple has to say about the Nitro: “Using the new Nitro Engine, for example, Safari executes JavaScript up to 30 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and more than 3 times faster than Firefox 3 based on performance in leading industry benchmark tests: iBench and SunSpider. In addition to superior JavaScript performance, Safari offers top-flight HTML performance — the best on any platform — loading pages 3 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and almost 3 times faster than Firefox 3.”

Personally I didn’t notice any significant difference between the load times of sites in Firefox 3 and in Safari 4. But Safari 4 is fast and really stable for a beta. Okay so it’s not really stable, but it’s stable. I actually had to switch to Firefox to finish this article, because when I clicked the “insert hyperlink” button on Wordpress, Safari rendered the pop up window (where the url is typed in) behind the black veil that also pops up when you click the button. The black veil blocks input to everything else except to the pop up window, but since Safari put the pop up window behind the veil as well, I couldn’t enter the hyperlink and I got stuck with the stupid veil. Hooray for auto save. So is Safari 4 beta good enough to be a default browser? I say try it out yourselves. You can download Safari 4 beta here.

But even if Apple manages to fix the things I complained about, I’m still not going to use the final version of Safari 4 as my default browser. Why? No add-ons. Apple still has time to fix Top Sites and the tab dragging, but without things like Noscript, Flashblock, Adblock Plus, Download Statusbar, Better GReader, Better Youtube - I could go on and on - I’ll always think of Safari as a backup browser. IE, on the other hand, should only be used once: on fresh installs, to download Firefox.

無疑, Intel Atom 處理器是一顆出色的低階處理器,低功耗但卻擁有不俗的效能表現,成為現時 Low Cost PC 、 Netbook 市場的主力,只可惜配搭舊有的 Intel 945GSE 、 945GC 晶片組,內建的 GMA950 繪圖核心,在效能上無法與主流 PC 媲美,亦成為 Atom 平台與主流 PC 的主要區間,但在 NVIDIA 加拱全新 ION 平台,以優秀繪圖效能的 MCP79 IGP 晶片配搭 Atom 處理器,讓低價 PC 也能擁有優異的繪圖及影像處理能力, Low Cost PC 與主流 PC 市場的區間將會崩潰。

圖為 NVIDIA 推出的 ION Reference PC ,體積僅 142 x 110 x 39 mm ,卻擁有一台完整 PC 的功能,前端面板擁有音效 Jack 輸出、光纖 S/PDIF 、 USB 及 E-SATA 接口,後方則提供了所有主流的顯示輸出接口,包括 HDMI 、 Dual-link DVI 、 Display Port 及 D-Sub 輸出。

拆下這台 ION Reference PC 外殼,其實它是由 Pico-ITX 主機板、 I/O Daughterboard 組成,下方則放置了一組 2.5 " SATA 硬碟,拆下硬碟可看到 SO-IMMM 記憶體擴充槽,電源方面則採用外置 12V DC 電源供應器。

這台 ION Reference PC 的主要核心,就是這片 Pico-ITX 主機板,尺寸僅 100 x 75mm ,卻內建有一顆 Intel Atom N330 雙核心處理器及內建 GeForce 9400 繪圖核心的 MCP79 IGP 晶片組,能夠達成如此細小的 Form Factor ,除了是 Intel Atom N330 雙核心處理器體積細少外,更重要的是 NVIDIA MCP79 是採用單晶片設計,相比 Intel 945GSE/945GC 北橋配搭 ICH7 南橋節省更多空間。

早前的 ION reference PC 僅採用 Intel Atom N230 單核心處理器,但今次 NVIDIA 送測的則為 Intel Atom N330 雙核心處理器,基本上是兩顆 Diamondville 核心封裝在一顆處理器上, 45nm 制程,核心時脈同樣為 1.6GHz 、內建 512KB L2 Cache x 2 、 533MHz FSB ,支援 Hyper-Threading 技術最高可同時處理 4 個 Threading 。

晶片組採用 NVIDIA MCP79 晶片組, 65nm 制程由 TSMC 代工,單晶片設計令成本進一步下降,核心電壓為 1.1V 、最高 TDP 約為 ~ 14W ,晶片大小為 35mm x 35mm , Dual Channel 記憶體技術,同時內建 DDR2 及 DDR3 記憶體控制器,最高支援 DDR2-800 及 DDR3-1333 速度,此次 ION reference PC 則採用 Single Channel DDR3-1333 配置,記憶體容量為 2GB 。

繪圖核心方面, GeForce 9400 基於 G96 繪圖核心所移植,支援 DirectX 10 、 Shader Model 4.0 及 OpenGL 2.0 規格,完全符合 Microsoft Vista Premium 2008 規格,繪圖核心擁有 16 個 Stream Processors 、 8 個 Texture Filtering Unit 、 8 個 Texture Addressing Unit 及 4 個 ROPs ,核心時脈為 580MHz 、 Shader 時脈為 1.4GHz ,效能高達 54 GLOPS ,繪圖效能約為 GM45 的一倍,並且加入 PureVideo HD 技術,支援 MPEG-2 、 H.264 及 VC-1 編碼作全硬體加速運算,~ 100% 把解碼工作交給 GPU 負責。

HDMI 接口支援 24-bit 8 Channel LPCM 無壓縮音效輸出,提供完整的 7.1 聲道家庭影院效果,而且不需要外接 SP/DIF ,相比繪圖卡解決方案方便得多,但值得注意的是,音像輸出僅支援 HDMI 介面, DisplayPort 接口則無法提供聲畫同步輸出。

GeForce 9400 支援 Blu-ray BonusView 功能 (Blu-ray Profile 1.1) ,將能提供更多功能例如畫中畫等,現時 Resident Evil: Extinction 、 Sunshine 、 Alien vs. Predator: Requiem 、 WAR 、 Untraceable 、 RAMBO 、 V for Vendetta 、 Miami Vice 、 Jumper 、 Batman Begins 、 Beowulf 及 Starship Troopers 等電影均已支援 Blu-Ray BonusView 功能,而未來將會有更多電影加入。

一直在高階產品中效能領先的 NVIDIA ,沒想到會被一顆效能級 RV770 核心迫得喘不過氣來,其中採用雙晶片組的 Radeon HD 4870 X2 更成功打敗 GeForce GTX 280 ,讓 NVIDIA 自 GeForce 6 以來穩奪的「 The Fastest Graphics Card On the Planet 」頭銜,由於採用 65 奈米的 D10U 繪圖核心在功耗表現上難以組成雙晶片產品反撃,終於等到改用 55 奈米的 D10U 繪圖核心出現, NVIDIA 已急不及待向 Radeon HD 4870 X2 開戰,誓要奪回失落一年的皇者頭銜。

圖為 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 繪圖卡,兩片 PCB 基板所組成、 Dual Slot 設計, PCB 版本為 D10U-P656 ,每片基板均為 12 層 Layers PCB(Printed Circuit Board) 設計,繪圖卡呎吋為 4.376 吋 x 10.50 吋,需要外接一組 6 Pin 及一組 8 Pin PCI-Express 供電,產品最高功耗為 283W ,建議使用 650W 或以上電源供應器,建議售價為 $499 美元 。

據 NVIDIA 表示, GeForce GTX 295 會採用雙 PCB 基板設計,主要是考慮到散熱及記憶體走線問題。由於 PCB 會把繪圖晶片的熱力傳導,如果同一片 PCB 擁有兩顆繪圖核心,熱力將會傳導至另一顆繪圖晶片,對穩定性構成一定影響。

此外,雙 PCB 基板設計雖然成本大幅增加,但由於單 PCB 雙晶片大幅減少記憶體走線空間, NVIDIA 衡量成本和穩定性後,決定採用兩片 PCB 基板設計。

採用 BR04-300 接橋晶片 支援 PW Shortcut 及 Broadcast

能讓兩顆繪圖晶片可共用相同的 PCI-Express 接口,主要是 GeForce GTX 295 內建了一顆 BR04-300-A2 Host 接橋晶片,此顆晶片支援 PCI-Express 2.0 規格,內建三組控制器 PCI-Express x16 通道,連接兩顆繪圖晶片及 PCI-Express 繪圖接口。

這顆 BR04-300-A2 晶片有兩項全新功能, Point-to Point Write Shortcut 及 Broadcast 。

Point-to-Point Write Shortcut 功能是為 BR04-300-A2 提供了可讓兩顆 GPU 內部自行溝通的渠道,不需要再外部 PCI-Express ,大大提高兩顆 GPU 作資料交換的效率。

Broadcast 功能把相同的資料同時傳給兩顆 GPU ,其實在 SLI 模式下,由於兩顆 GPU 會同時運算相同的畫面,因此兩顆 GPU 記憶體內的資料其實完全相同,以往 SLI 模式下,資料需要傳送兩次交給兩顆不同的 GPU ,但現在只需要傳一次就能令兩顆 GPU 所擁有的資料同步,大大提升了資料寫入速度。
